A freely accessible portal with teacher-developed interactive biology simulations for classroom use. The materials have been developed from school practice and combine animation, tasks, and result documentation – designed for student-centred learning.
Selected views can be exported and then reused in OneNote, GoodNotes, or other digital notebooks.
Learners deliberately change settings and directly observe how biological processes or model states are affected.
Large controls and clearly separated interface areas make the simulations suitable for lessons with digital devices.
Animations reduce complex processes to the subject-relevant steps and support observation, description, and evaluation.
The simulations follow school-level biological terminology and avoid unnecessary shifts in wording within a topic.
Links and QR codes allow direct access without distributing files or installing software.
EduBioSim is designed as a collection of interactive biology simulations for classroom use. The materials are intended not only to describe biological processes, models, and experiments, but to make them visible, controllable, and evaluable.
The simulations emerge from this classroom practice. They are especially intended for learning environments in which learners work independently, cooperatively, and with digital devices. The focus is therefore not on as many effects as possible, but on subject-specific reduced models, understandable interfaces, tasks, and saving results in a digital notebook.
In terms of content, the materials are aligned with the Bavarian LehrplanPLUS for biology. The simulations therefore use terminology that connects as consistently as possible to the curriculum and address topics that are relevant in the corresponding grade levels of the Bavarian Gymnasium.
Many biological topics are difficult to observe directly in class: processes in the eye, neural signal transmission, DNA replication, cell division, or evolutionary change are too fast, too slow, too small, or too abstract. Interactive simulations can make these processes visible as models and allow learners to change parameters, compare observations, and save results.

These notes briefly explain what data is processed when you visit EduBioSim.
This website is hosted by netcup. When pages are accessed, technical access data may be processed by the web server, for example IP address, date and time of the request, file accessed, amount of data transferred, browser information, and status code. This data is used for the secure and stable operation of the website.
EduBioSim does not set any cookies for advertising or tracking purposes. A cookie banner is therefore not used.
GoatCounter is used for privacy-friendly reach measurement. According to its own documentation, GoatCounter does not use cookies, local storage, or persistent user identifiers in the browser. Aggregated statistical data is collected in order to understand which pages and simulations are being used.
